- Police in Winnipeg said the driver, who was not immediately named, use his Jeep Patriot to plow through the crowd before fleeing the scene at high speeds
- The driver was eventually caught by police and arrested after a brief struggle
- One person was taken to a nearby hospital before being released, while three others sustained only minor injures, which did not require medical attention
- GoFundMe has since reversed a decision to not redistribute $8 million from those who donated to the Freedom Truckers cause, and will refund the money
- The crowd-funding website made the decision to distribute the donated funds after facing widespread backlash and a potential fraud investigation
A 42-year-old male from Headingly, Manitoba, faces charges of four counts of assault with weapon, two counts of dangerous operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm, one count of dangerous operation of a conveyance, two counts of failure to stop after accident, and two counts of failure to stop at the scene of an accident.
