French polls show 'yes' vote on EU constitution edging ahead
For the first time opinion polls in France show the 'yes' vote in favour of the European constitution ahead of the 'no'. Two polls, for Le Monde and Journal du Dimanche, found 52 per cent of people for the draft constitution and 48 against. But a large number said they might still change their minds ahead of the 29 May referendum. The turnaround comes after 'yes' campaigners last week used the test flight over Toulouse of the giant Airbus A380 to rally high-profile women to the cause and claim EU enlargement had boosted foreign trade.
