Battle With Insurgents Kills 15 in (Ramadi) Iraq
Insurgents attacked coalition forces Tuesday in Ramadi, setting off a battle that killed 12 militants, an Iraqi soldier and two Iraqi civilians, the American military said. Two Marines were slightly injured, the military said, adding the fighting also wounded four insurgents and two Iraqi soldiers. Five militants were captured, the statement said.The battle began when a group of insurgents attacked a checkpoint in Ramadi, 70 miles west of Baghdad, manned by Marines from the 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment and Iraqi forces, the statement said.
