Syria’s Hawl Camp witnesses security alert, reports of ISIS rebellion
Late on Monday, a security source told North Press that the Hawl Camp, east of Hasakah, northeastern Syria, has witnessed a security alert following a rebellion by ISIS sleeper cells inside the camp. The source added that clashes with medium and light weapons erupted between the security forces and the ISIS cells within the fourth and fifth divisions of the camp. He pointed out that an ISIS member was killed during the clashes, and the camp is witnessing firing now and intense flight of the US-led Global Coalition aircraft over the camp. In early March, a high-ranking security source told North Press that they had received intelligence information that ISIS was preparing to take full control of the Hawl Camp. Meanwhile, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) suspended their activities within the camp for tomorrow, as a result of the security situation within the overcrowded camp.
