This area is not heavily populated and was, perhaps, not heavily defended. A theory is that this is the beginning of a Rus offense to outflank the Ukraine positions further south. Elsewhere, Russian forces, infantry and armor, are slowly approaching the heavily defended perimeter of Sievierodonetsk and Lysychansk. Most analysts think the Ukraine positions there are supported by armored vehicles but how many is uncertain. Not much territory change elsewhere. Substantial bombardment of positions (Ukraine by Rus, Rus by Ukraine) continues.
