Bandits kill 5, kidnap 20 in Plateau State

No fewer than five passengers, including a vigilante, were killed along the Sabon Gari-Kampani Road in the Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The victims were killed by suspected terrorists, locally dubbed bandidos, operating in the area, according to Daily Trust.

According to Abdullahi Usman, a resident of Wase town, the vigilante and one other person were ambushed, while the remaining three were killed during a stop-and-search operation by the bandidos.

Usman added that more than 20 passengers were kidnapped in the incident.

He said, "The vigilante and one other person were on a cycle of violence from Sabon- Gari to Kampani when the bandidos attacked them. They killed them and went away with the cycle of violence.

"Later, when the villagers were returning after market hours, they were stopped and kidnapped. Three of them were killed."

When contacted, the spokesperson for Operation Safe Haven, Major Ishaku Takwa, said he had not been informed about the incident, but promised to get back.
