Turkey Heavily Shells Hasakah Northern Countryside

Turkish forces and their affiliated opposition factions (SNA) violently shelled on Saturday two towns on the contact lines, north of Hasakah, northeast Syria.

“The Turkish forces targeted the center of Abu Rasin town with heavy weapons at about 8 o‘clock this evening,” a local source told North Press.

Turkish forces also bombed the village of al-Ghebish, 1 km west of the town of Tal Tamr, north of Hasakah, with a barrage of artillery and mortar shells. The shelling caused material damage, according to a source in the Tel Tamr Military Council.

The source stated that Turkish drones are currently flying over the town of Tel Tamr.

On Saturday morning, the villages of al-Dashisha, al-Tawila and Tel Tawil, west of the town of Tel Tamr, were heavily shelled by the Turkish forces. No further information was received about the size of the damage, according to local sources.

Following the Turkish “Peace Spring” military operation in October 2019, which resulted in the occupation of the two cities of Tel Abyad, north of Raqqa, and Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), north of Hasakah, Turkey signed two ceasefire agreements, one with Russia and the other with the US.

The agreements stipulate halt of all hostilities there and the withdrawal of the SDF 30 km in depth away from the Turkish border in addition to conducting Turkish-Russian joint patrols in order to monitor the implementation of the agreements.
