Steve Bannon is found GUILTY of contempt of Congress for defying his January 6 subpoena:
Trump advisor now faces up to a year in federal prison after jury took three hours to reach verdict
- The jury found Steve Bannon guilty of a misdemeanor contempt of Congress charge
- Bannon thanked the judge and jury, but said he only had one disappointment after he was found guilty: 'The gutless members of that show trial J6 committee didn't have the guts to come down here and testify'
- DOJ lawyer Gaston said that Bannon made an 'intentional' choice not to comply and said his executive privilege argument does not carry weight
- 'His belief that he had an excuse not to comply does not matter, that is not a defense to contempt,' she said
- Bannon's attorney suggested the trial was politically motivated and accused the DOJ of bringing in biased witnesses
- Bannon declined to speak in his own trial
- His attorneys wrapped their case without presenting a defense to jurors
