 [DailyTimes.pk] As Pakistan faces the risk of debt default due to depleting foreign reserves, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has pleaded with Washington to assist in securing an early disbursement of $1.2 billion in funds under an International Monetary Fund loan programme. The sources, who asked to remain anonymous because they were not authorized to speak publicly, claimed that Bajwa appealed to the White House and Treasury Department to pressure the IMF to provide Pakistan with the nearly $1.2 billion under a resumed loan programme.
