Turkish Forces Renew Shelling Villages In Syria’s North

[NPASyria] On Friday, Turkish forces and their affiliated armed opposition factions shelled a village in the northwestern countryside of Manbij in Aleppo eastern countryside.

Manbij Military Council, affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), said that the Turkish forces and their opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA), targeted the village of Arab Hassan with mortar shells.

The council did not mention any information about the damages.

The city of Manbij, east of Aleppo, is one of the most important industrial centers in northern Syria, as it is a transportation hub and sits on a commercial road linking the Autonomous Administration held areas with those of the Syrian government, in addition to opposition-held areas in northern Syria.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) supported by the US-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS liberated Manbij from ISIS in 2016 following fierce battles.

Following its liberation from ISIS, the Arabs, Kurds, Circassians and Turkmen, who constitute the fabric of Manbij, established their own administration under the name of Democratic Civil Administration of Manbij and its Countryside to run the affairs of their region. Then, this administration joined the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).

Blast In NE Syria’s Qamishli

[NPASyria] On Friday, a stun grenade was exploded in the city of Qamishli in northeastern Syria by unknown individuals.

The explosion took place at 11:00 am in Ari Park in al-Siyahi neighborhood causing material damage only, a local source said.

The source added that after they threw the stun grenade, the individuals ran away.

The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) has yet to comment on the incident.

ISIS Claims Attacking SDF In Syria’s Deir Ez-Zor

[NPASyria] The Islamic State (ISIS) claimed on Wednesday an attack on the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.

ISIS-run Amaq News Agency, published a statement saying, the organization’s militants targeted two SDF fighters on the main road of the town of Sabha, 30 km east of Deir ez-Zor, with machineguns.

The militants managed to kill the two fighters and seized their weapons, Amaq added.

Since Saturday, ISIS has claimed eight operations against the SDF in their areas of presence, four of which was in Deir ez-Zor.

ISIS Assassinates A Civilian In Deir Ez-Zor Eastern Syria

[NPASyria] The Islamic State (ISIS) claimed on Thursday the arrest and, then, the killing of a civilian in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

ISIS-run Amaq News Agency, published a statement saying, ISIS militants could arrest Ayesh al-Meizer and then kill him on charges of dealing with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Unknown militants kidnapped al-Meizer, 17, in front of his house. Two hours later, they came back and put his body in front of the house with a paper on it written with “The reason of the killing is dealing with the SDF,” a local source from the town of al-Zerr, 35 km east of Deir ez-Zor said.

The source added that al-Meizer worked in free jobs and did not belong to any political or military faction.

ISIS Claims Beheading Former SDF Fighter In Syria’s Deir Ez-Zor

[NPASyria] The Islamic State (ISIS) claimed on Thursday beheading a former fighter of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in a town in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

ISIS-run Amaq News Agency published a statement saying that the organization’s militants had beheaded a former SDF fighter and seized his motorbike.

It added that the reason behind the killing was his former service with the SDF and fighting against ISIS in the battle of Baghouz five years ago.

A local source from the village of Abraha, east of Deir ez-Zor, said that the residents there found the body of the beheaded young man Zidan al-Fhaiman, who hails from the village, near the popular market there.

The source added that the residents found a piece of paper with the body, in which the terrorist organization claimed the killing and explained that it was on charges of fighting against them in the battle of Baghouz.

The source stressed that “al-Fhaiman had been working in motorcycle trade for nearly three years, and was not affiliated with any political or military group.”

During the past few days, the central villages and towns in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor have witnessed an unusual activity of ISIS cells.

On Wednesday, ISIS took responsibility for murdering two SDF fighters in the town of Sabha, in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

On Thursday morning, ISIS claimed killing young man Ayesh al-Meizer, after he had been kidnapped earlier, on charges of dealing with the SDF. The man hailed from the town of al-Zerr in Deir ez-Zor eastern countryside.

ISIS Claims Attack On SDF Vehicle East Of Syria’s Deir Ez-Zor

[NPASyria] The Islamic State (ISIS) claimed on Wednesday an assault on a military vehicle of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

The assault took place in the town of Abraha, about 30 km east of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.

ISIS-run Amaq News Agency, published a statement saying, “The organization’s militants targeted, with machine guns, a military vehicle of the SDF, resulting in killing and injuring of all its occupants.”

Ali al-Ahmad, a local activist in the town of Abraha, told North Press, “Unidentified gunmen opened fire on an SDF military vehicle on the main road [in the town] on Wednesday morning, which led to two [SDF] fighters losing their lives.”

The countryside of Deir ez-Zor has recently been witnessing a spike in assassinations, targeting SDF fighters, employees of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), tribal leaders and civilians, despite the intensive security campaigns launched by the SDF.

On July 30, ISIS took responsibility for targeting an SDF vehicle in the town of al-Hussan west of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, resulting in the death of two SDF fighters.

NE Syria’s Asayish Finds ISIS Trenches In Hawl Camp

[NPASyria] The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) found on Wednesday secret trenches in Hawl Camp, northeastern Syria, used by members of the Islamic State (ISIS) to hide and plot their attacks.

In a statement published on its official website, the Asayish said that it had obtained information about the hiding spots of organization’s militants in the camp.

The Asayish said that ISIS militants were using these trenches to disappear after committing their crimes inside the camp.

The statement added that the trenches were filled after no one was found in them.

In December 2021, the Asayish found a secret tunnel in the camp used by the ISIS children, also known as “Cubs of the Caliphate”, to hide from inspections and take Sharia lessons.

NE Syria’s Asayish Thwarts ISIS Smuggling Attempt From Hawl Camp

[NPASyria] The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) thwarted on Tuesday an attempt to smuggle 56 members of the Islamic State (ISIS) families from Hawl Camp, east of Hasakah, northeastern Syria.

The official website of the Asayish published video footage of the operation, showing a large truck loaded with timber to camouflage the smuggled people, noting that they were able to foil the process.

The truck, which left the camp on Tuesday’s afternoon, was seized while carrying 56 members of ISIS families, including 39 children, the Asayish statement said.

The statement added that the smuggler who planned the operation was arrested.

The Asayish has not provided any further details about the attempt.

At the beginning of July, the camp’s management announced that 28 murders had occurred since the beginning 2022, including 12 Syrians, 14 Iraqi refugees and two unidentified bodies, in addition to 15 unsuccessful attempted murders.

Hawl Camp, located 45 kilometers east of Hasakah, houses around 55.825 people, including 28.723 Iraqis, 18.848 internally displaced Syrians, and 8.254 foreign nationals, according to the latest official statistics obtained by North Press.
