The VP has not been present for Biden signing the Inflation Reduction Act or his executive action on student loans

The Hawaii trip followed a brief weekend stint at the couple's Brentwood, Calif. home after her last public engagement on Aug. 12

The trip was unannounced before the VP landed in Kauai

She was seen walking through the Waipa Foundation Farmers Market and hiking Haena State Park
