Trans Women Have a Hard Time Getting Screened for Cervical Cancer
[CanadianCancerSociety] It can be difficult to make cancer screening a priority, especially when there's not a lot of information out there about cervical cancer risks for trans women. You may also be concerned about things like experiencing transphobia during the screening process.

Still it's important to take care of your health by getting the cancer screening you need.
How can someone get cervical cancer without having a cervix?
Any living tissue can develop cancer. And cancer from another tissue in the body can metastasize anywhere in the body. So the fake cervix can become cancerous — just not with cervical cancer — and because it is hidden from the patient, getting a doctor to check that everything is as it should be is simply good hygiene. Calling it cervical cancer, though, is straightforward catering to dysphoria.
