Alec Baldwin demands judge throw out mother, sister's lawsuit over Halyna Hutchins death, saying they were 'distanced from her for years'
[thepostmillennial] On Thursday, Alec Baldwin asked a judge to throw out a lawsuit filed by the sister and parents of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who was killed in a fatal shooting on the set of Baldwin's low-budget movie Rust in Bonanza City, New Mexico on October 21, 2021, an incident for which the actor is facing involuntary manslaughter charges.

NBC News reports Baldwin said in the court filings, "The loss of a daughter and sister is undoubtedly painful in any circumstance. Yet Plaintiffs—who had been distanced from Halyna physically, financially, and emotionally for years before her death—have no viable cause of action against Defendants."
What a vile man he is, to be sure.
"This action is especially misguided," Baldwin added.
Remember when Alec Baldwin Called His Daughter a 'Rude, Thoughtless Pig'? Talk about distancing. Good Times. Good. Times.
The lawsuit was filed by Hutchin's parents, Olga Solovey and Anatolii Androsovych, as well as her sister, Svetlana Zemko in February and also names Rust Movie Productions, LLC, assistant director David Halls, and the film armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed.

Baldwin said the family had "no viable cause of action" and was trying to "obtain compensation."

The lawyer for the Hutchins family, Gloria Allred, said the actor was "once again attempting to avoid responsibility."
Gloria Allred? My sympathy level just took a hit
"It is abundantly clear under New Mexico law, which will be applied in the California court that he is responsible for all of the harm he did to the entirety of Halyna Hutchins’ family. We are here to make sure that he is held accountable for his actions," Allred added.

In October 2022, Baldwin settled with Hutchins' estate, son, and husband Matthew Hutchins, in a wrongful death suit.

On January 31, Baldwin and Rust film armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed were each formally charged with two felony counts of involuntary manslaughter and involuntary manslaughter in the commission of a lawful act.

In February, Baldwin entered a plea of not guilty, and if convicted he could face 18 months in prison.
