Afghanistan’s Saffron Exports to India, China and UAE
Another income stream from which the Taliban will help themselves, leaving a pittance for the civilians doing the work. [KhaamaPress] Afghanistan exported 69 tons of saffron worth $22 million during the previous solar year (March 2022 to March 2023), according to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
According to a statement from the Ministry, China, India, and the United Arab Emirates, received most of the saffron exports.
Afghanistan’s saffron is regarded as the best in the world and has received a three-star distinction from the European International Organization in Taste.
For the eighth year in a row, saffron grown and manufactured in Afghanistan has been deemed the highest-quality saffron in the world, according to a member of the Saffron Producers Union in Kabul.
