Taliban Clashed with Civilians in Paktika; Four Tribal Elders Injured
Local sources in Paktika ...which coincidentally borders South Wazoo... have reported that four tribal elders were maimed during a physical altercation between Taliban  ...the Pashtun equivalent of men...members and civilians. According to the sources, the clash took place on Wednesday, August 2, in the Troi district of the province. The confrontation occurred when Taliban fighters attempted to forcibly hand over several privately-owned shops in the Turi market to individuals affiliated with the group. Eyewitnesses say that the incident escalated with gunfire and the use of blunt weapons, resulting in the four tribal elders sustaining gunshot wounds and injuries. The injured individuals were promptly transported to a provincial hospital in Paktika for medical treatment. As of now, local Taliban officials in Paktika have not commented on the matter. This incident comes in the wake of yesterday’s events in the Zazai Aryoub district of Paktia province, where one man lost his life, and two others were maimed due to gunfire from Taliban fighters.
