Street in New York co-named 'Allama Iqbal Avenue'
[GEO.TV] As Pakistain's Independence Day fast approaches, an avenue in New York — the most populous city in the United States — has been co-named “Allama Iqbal Avenue".
That’s Sir Muhammad Iqbal to you, the national poet of Pakistan, who inspired the Pakistan Movement. I looked him up.
Ambassador Masood Khan has congratulated President American-Pak Advocacy Group Ali Rashid for his leadership in having the avenue co-named "Allama Iqbal Avenue".

Iqbal is an international icon
...those who know, know him. The rest of us have to resort to the internet or old Encyclopedia Brittanicas...
and a symbol of Pak nationhood. It was he who dreamed of a separate homeland for the Moslems of the Sub-continent — a dream which came true in 1947.

"New York is the most famous metropolis and naming an avenue after our national poet would cement Pak-US ties and a source of pride for Pak diaspora not only in NYC but across the United States," he said.
Worked so well for MLK.
He also paid tribute to Rashid for his resolute efforts to build better relations between Pakistain and the US, creating greater awareness about the history and culture of Pakistain in the US.

It may be recalled that Rashid and APAG were instrumental in introducing a resolution in the US House of Representatives to designate March 23, 2023, as "Pakistain Day."
