Fulton County Court Publishes, Then Deletes, Indictment against Trump in 2020 Election Case
But they ran the 2020 elections without incident....
[NationalReview] Prosecutors in Georgia on Monday seemingly accidentally published the charges they plan to bring against former president Donald Trump over his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in the Peach State.
A two-page docket was posted on the Fulton County court’s website that detailed charges against Trump, including racketeering, conspiracy and false statements, according to Reuters. However, the docket was quickly removed from the site on Monday.
Trump’s attorneys criticized the release of the docket in a statement on Monday.
"The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office has once again shown that they have no respect for the integrity of the grand jury process," attorneys Drew Findling and Jennifer Little said. "This was not a simple administrative mistake. A proposed indictment should only be in the hands of the District Attorney’s Office, yet it somehow made its way to the clerk’s office and was assigned a case number and a judge before the grand jury even deliberated. This is emblematic of the pervasive and glaring constitutional violations which have plagued this case from its very inception."
A grand jury in the case is expected to hear testimony on Monday and Tuesday. An indictment against Trump and his allies could come early this week.
Fulton County district attorney Fani Willis,
...the radical leftwinger whose father was a Black Panther... | a Democrat,
is reportedly expected to seek more than a dozen charges against the former president.
Willis’s investigation, which began in early 2021, centered on alleged efforts from Trump and his allies to pressure election officials and a plan to put forward fake electors. The investigation launched shortly after Trump called Georgia secretary of state Brad Raffensperger and pressured him to "find" the votes needed to flip the state in his favor. Trump maintained earlier this month that it was a "perfect phone call."
