The festivities, which started on August 11, has seen 60 people killed and 250 injured.

According to the UN humanitarian agency (UNOCHA), trucks loaded with relief supplies are unable to travel to Nyala town due to fighting, while staff at the Ottoman Turkish hospital are overwhelmed by the numbers of injured people in need of assistance.

Reports indicate humanitarian partners on the ground have low medical supplies.

The ongoing festivities have also resulted in to the displacement of people in Ad Du’ayn town of East Darfur State as well as Al Fasher Town in North Darfur State.

OCHA, in its latest report, said trucks loaded with nutrition, health, and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) supplies destined for Nyala Town have remained in Ad Du’ayn Town, the capital of East Darfur, since August 14 due to the fighting.

"There are concerns that continued fighting will cause the already precarious humanitarian situation in the state to deteriorate and heighten the health, nutrition, sanitation and food security needs of the vulnerable," noted the report.

Communication, electricity and water systems are not functioning due to fighting.
