Former Wagner Group fighters are finding, to their dismay, that few employers want to hire them
[X thread] Former Wagner Group fighters are finding, to their dismay, that few employers want to hire them; they can't even get jobs at Burger King. "They were promised a life with a clean slate and [the authorities] failed to fulfill their promises," a relative complains.

4/ Wagner members and their relatives are complaining in online forums that they are being excluded from jobs at defence companies, factories and the Russian National Guard. Instead, they're having to work as taxi drivers, construction workers and doormen.

5/ MO interviewed some of the relatives. Svetlana, the mother of one Wagner fighter, says that her son – an ex-convict – planned to take a job at a new factory building kamikaze drones in Kamchatka. Even though he had an official pardon, the owners weren't interested.

8/ MO contacted a recruitment agency working for the Chernyshev military engine plant. It was told that the company's corporate security department "does not let in candidates with convictions for theft, drugs and murder, even those who have been pardoned."
The Russian government lied to them? Let us all be shocked together, dear Reader. Though it is fair to say that this is absolutely not particular to the government of Russia.
