[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] - General Motors announced 2,000 layoffs and closed their Kansas plant on Wednesday blaming the impact of a corresponding strike in Detroit
- Job cuts were also announced by Stellantis, the maker of Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge, and by Ford last week
- The United Auto Workers Union began a historic labor strike on Friday after there demands of a 40 percent pay rise and a four-day week were not met
