Taking to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Guterres said: "I welcome the agreement reached by Israel & Hamas. It’s an important step in the right direction, but much more needs to be done."

The UN chief also said that the intergovernmental organization will "mobilise all its capacities to support the implementation & maximize positive impact on the humanitarian situation in Gazoo
