Suicide Bombing at Security Checkpoint in Mogadishu
[Garowe] A suicide kaboom occurred today at a security checkpoint in the Ali Kamiin intersection of the Warta-Nabadda district in the Banaadir region of Mogadishu. The attacker, who was reportedly strapped with explosives, let 'er rip near the Mogadishu Stadium’s sport Village, coinciding with a football match between Galmudug...a semiautonomous region in central Somalia, bordering Puntland on the north. Galmudug is not trying to obtain international recognition as a separate nation, but rather considers itself autonomous within the larger Somali federalism, for what that's worth... and Banaadir. Reliable sources indicate that security forces fired upon the bomber, causing injuries before the earth-shattering kaboom. There are reports of multiple casualties resulting from the blast. In a brief statement, the government confirmed that no one else was harmed in the incident, with only the bomber losing his life.
