The shooter is a Bosnian-Austrian named Emra I., born in 2006, age 18. He lived in Neumarkt am Wallersee, Salzburg, and had been investigated by the police last year for connections to ISIS and radical Islam due to his interest in ISIS, weapons, and explosives; while the investigation was dropped, he was banned from having a gun until 2028. However, the 18th century repeating carbine he carried does not require a license or permit in Austria. He drove over from Salzburg this morning before commencing his nefarious activities, but was quickly shot dead by the local constabulary.
There is a large and aggressive radical Islam scene in Austria, particularly Austrian-born ISIS big turban Mohamed Mahmoud, who died in an air raid on an ISIS prison in Syria in 2018, but it connects to the Balkans and Chechnya rather than the Middle East. |
