High school coach arrested on suspicion of sexual contact with students in Perris — Press Enterprise
[PRESSENTERPRISE] A high school coach in Perris was arrested on Thursday, Oct. 10, on suspicion of sexual contact with minors, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department announced.

In August, a school resource deputy was called to Perris High at 165 E. Nuevo Road to investigate allegations that an athletic coach, Jesse Gonsalez Lopez, 27, was having inappropriate contact with female students at the school.

Lopez was placed on leave while the sheriff's Special Victims Unit investigated, and was ultimately booked into the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center in French Valley on suspicion of child annoyance, sexual battery, and lewd and lascivious acts with a minor.

Lopez posted a $10,000 bail and was released on Friday morning, Oct. 11.

Details of the allegations were not immediately available, nor were the minors' ages or Lopez's duration of employment.

The Perris Union High School District did not return a call for comment. Its website said the district was closed for staff training.
