What's in a Name? Nashville Predators Host Gay Pride
[TennesseeConservativeNews] The Nashville Predators hosted a Pride Music Heritage Night on Saturday at Bridgestone Arena.
Finally sunk in after the third read: a hockey team...
Presented by Amazon, the “theme night” was one of a four-part series meant to showcase entertainment from “diverse communities in Nashville.”

A pregame Plaza Party featured a toast from Nashville Predators CEO Sean Henry commemorating the Preds celebration of Pride Night for a decade, Drag Queens, a glitter bar and hair tinsel, and sponsorship from Tennessee whiskey maker Jack Daniels, Regions Bank, and Margaritaville.
Sunk in with the very first read: pedos.
A custom logo, reminiscent of a disco ball, was designed for the Pride Music Heritage Night. The logo artists collaborated with the Nashville Predators and the final design was featured on player-signed jerseys, t-shirts and around the arena the night of the game. The design was also featured on 10,000 mini vinyl record coasters given out to the first fans to arrive.
Faaaaabulous!
LGBTQ organizations involved with the event during the game included official “towel waver” the Tennessee Pride Chamber, Middle Tennessee Transgender Alliance, Nashville Pride, LGBT Outdoors, and Found Sound Media.

An auction where Preds fans placed bids on jerseys, hats and other merch with the Pride logo benefited GUIDER, a Preds initiative whose goal is the diminishing of “the prevalence of social injustice in any form.” GUIDER is an acronym for Growth, Understanding, Inclusion, Diversity, Equality, and Representation.

Two more Music Heritage Nights are planned for later in the hockey league’s season, in early 2025. These are API (Asian and Pacific Islander) Music Heritage Night on January 29th, and Black Music Heritage Night on February 8th.
I assume Black heritage music is supposed to be blues and jazz, but not bluegrass and Americana, which for some reason are assumed to to be “white heritage” music. And then there is gay heritage music, which is expected to be musicals, which goes to show.
The Pride Music Heritage Night is one of two annual Pride events hosted by the Predators. A separate Pride Night was held in April at the arena.

After controversy following some NHL players outside of Nashville choosing not to wear a Pride themed jersey during warmups in 2023, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said that themed warmup jerseys of any kind would no longer be allowed in the league.

Pride Nights are part of NHL’s “Hockey is for Everyone” initiative. As part of their effort to be inclusive, the league works to make the sport a positive environment for people of “every race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic status and for those with disabilities.”
