[GEO.TV] Jamaat Ahl-e-Hadees Central President Senator Professor Sajid Mir passed away at the age of 86, family sources confirmed on Saturday.

As per the sources, Mir died of a heart attack. The holy man was born on October 2, 1938, in Sialkot and completed his education at the University of the Punjab

Professor Mir served as a senator continuously from 2003 to 2025, and prior to that, he was also a member of the upper house of the parliament from 1994 to 2000. He was elected to the Senate on a Pakistain Moslem League-Nawaz (PML-N) ticket.

Besides serving as the central president of the Jamaat Ahl-e-Hadees, he also held the post of chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Science and Technology.
