Israeli political figures receive threatening phone calls, apparently from Iran

Threatening phone calls, apparently from Iran, have been made to a number of Israeli political figures over the past week, their recipients said Wednesday.
"We're calling about your extended car warranty"
The callers, speaking in Hebrew, in some cases appeared to know exactly who they were calling as they vowed Iran would destroy Israel with missile attacks.

Among those who received a call was the director-general of the Religious Zionism party Yehuda Vald, and the office of Yesh Atid MK Shelly Tal Meron.

“Hello, you are Yehuda Vald, I want to tell you, you made a mistake. Wait for our missiles, okay?” said a caller to Vald. “I think it is worthwhile to remain in the shelter.”

“Who told you?” Vald responded and hung up.

“We will continue the war until the destruction of Israel. We will have revenge on you, you are cowards,” said a male caller to Meron’s office.

“I am calling from Iran, are you afraid or not? Today, you need to wait for our missiles, run to the shelter. We will continue the war until the destruction of Israel.”

“I think you need a diaper,” the caller said.

The lawmaker’s assistant then said, “Keep talking, I am locating your telephone.”

“No problem, I am calling from Iran and I am not afraid,” came the response.

A statement on behalf of Meron thanked the Knesset Guard and its cyber directorate for attending to the matter.

“Calls like that won’t deter us, and won’t scare us,” it said.

Israel launched a major attack on Iran last Friday, saying it was a preemptive action against an imminent “existential” threat posed by Iran’s rogue nuclear weapons program and its ballistic missiles. Iran has responded with deadly barrages of ballistic missiles at civilian population centers and military targets in Israel.
