Explosives discovered in Kabul mosque
Police found nine pounds of explosives in one of the largest mosques in the Afghan capital, averting a possible terrorist attack, the interior ministry said. Thousands of Muslims were at Kabul's Blue Mosque for traditional morning prayers for the Islamic holiday Eid el-Fitr, which marks the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. The explosives were discovered in a structure used to store shoes, said Interior Ministry spokesman Alishah Paktiawal. Witnesses said police also found two grenades. Paktiawal said police had searched mosques across the capital after receiving intelligence that indicated a terrorist strike might be imminent.
Hiding explosives in a mosque just seems so... so... appropriate!
