Al Qaeda Supporter in NY to Plead Guilty
One of six Yemeni-American men charged by the U.S. government of supporting al Qaeda is due to plead guilty on Friday, a U.S. official said. Faysal Galab is due to appear in court in Buffalo, New York, for a plea hearing at 3:30 p.m. EST. Further details were not available. Galab and the other six men -- all of whom are U.S. citizens of Yemeni descent -- pleaded not guilty in October to charges of supporting al Qaeda by attending a camp in Afghanistan in 2001. They were arrested in Lackawanna, New York, a city near Buffalo and close to the U.S. border with Canada. U.S. prosecutors have accused the men of "conspiracy to provide material support and resources to a foreign terrorist organization" and a second count of providing material support to al Qaeda.
First guy to cop a plea gets reduced sentence in exchange for ratting out his buddies. Galab cracked first.
