| Karzai Names Haji Qadir's Brother as Governor |

| Afghan President Hamid Karzai has formally appointed the brother of his slain vice president as governor of the province of Nangarhar, officials said on Friday. Haji Deen Mohammad, brother of Haji Abdul Qadir, who was assassinated this month, had already declared himself governor five days before his official appointment, after Karzai had said the powerful family would be asked to fill the position. "Today he is formally appointed...discussions are going on regarding the vice-president's post," Karzai's spokesman Sayed Fazal Akbar said. Might as well keep it in the family.
