Police looking for link between McDonald's and KFC's blasts |
2002-12-06 |
National Police Chief Gen. Da'i Bachtiar said the perpetrators who planted the bomb that exploded at a McDonald's outlet on Thursday may be the same persons who set off a bomb at a Kentucky Fried Chicken outlet in November 2001. They used the same type of explosives, Da'i told reporters after inspecting the blast site on the ground floor of the Ratu Indah shopping mall. There was no casualty in the blast at the KFC outlet, but police to date have yet to solve the mystery. Thursday's blast at McDonald's left three people dead and 11 injured. Police had earlier identified the bomb used as black powder, a type of low explosive. A year ago they weren't as interested in solving a minor bombing directed against infidels here or there. Things have changed since then — at least temporarily. |
