| Mullah Fudlullah sez U.S. won't leave Iraq to Shiite groups |

| Catches on real quick, doesn't he? A prominent Lebanese cleric said here on Sunday that the US will not leave Iraq to the Iraqi opposition groups, particularly the Shiite groups. Fadlullah referred to the situation in Iraq as complicated in different dimensions of politics, military and security. Since the Iraqi opposition groups have had no planned programs for their country in the period following the downfall of Saddam, they have not been able to obtain global support. According to some reports released in Washington, the US has no plan to change the historical ruling system in Iraq and the Shiites will receive no special privileges in the next ruling system, Fadlullah added. I think the general idea is that no one receives special privileges, which amounts to giving everyone the same set of special privileges. On possible US attack on Iran, he stressed, "I do not think that the US would stage a war against Iran because it well knows that the Iranian nation, in case of facing a threat, will stand against the enemy unitedly. This is what the country's history proves." I doubt we're going to have to. If we did, since Iran and Iraq fought to a stalemate over ten years, Iran would probably be taken about the same way as Iraq. So don't even think about making faces. Washington has installed the current Iraqi regime, it made Iraq launch a war against the Islamic Republic through its political, economic and military support and then paved the way for the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, Fadlullah said |
