| U.S. Steps Up Canada Border Patrol |

| The U.S. Border Patrol is boosting security as it steps up the number of agents watching the border with Canada by more than half. It’s an effort to keep drugs, terrorist weapons and illegal immigrants out. All from Canada eh? "We were clearly understaffed on the northern border," said the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection commissioner, Robert Bonner. "This is an important step in increasing security along our northern border and is necessary given the continuing threat of terrorism." By the end of this year, approximately 375 veteran agents will move on a voluntary basis from their current duties on the southwestern border to the northern one. That means the number of permanent agents along the line will be 1,000. And with that I wish my American cousins a happy 4th!!! |
