Doctor Who returns to TV |
2003-09-26 |
Waaaay off normal topics, but this makes me very happy: Cult science fiction series Doctor Who is returning to TV, 14 years after it was axed. The much-awaited comeback will be written by acclaimed TV dramatist Russell T Davies - a self-confessed fan. The BBC has said it is far too early to discuss possible storylines, characters, villains or who might play Doctor Who - and no budget has yet been set. I loved Doctor Who, Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker being my favorites. Only down side is I’ll have to wait 2 years before it hits the air. Fire up the Tardis! |

#6 Liked the episodes with Leila. My favirute buts were when they battled a supersided virus colony that looked like a large crayfish called the swam. There was also an episode that had the flavor of the Orient including a evil animated doll. |

#5 Yeah, now they have that Fox movie as well as tons of novels and audio with Paul McGann as the 8th Doctor, so I wonder what they're going to do with him? |

#4 Interesting, but watching a Dr. Who not being played by Tom Baker is like watching Bewitched when Darren is not being played by Dick York... Tom always had a look in his eyes that seemed to say "I know this is all pretty cheesy, but it's the fun kind of cheesy!" |

#3 I got into Dr Who a bit when my girlfriend (now my wife) was a big fan. Dr Who was interesting (the idea of switching Doctors by morphing from one doctor to another was a pretty neat idea )but the effects were pretty low budget, especially compared to a Star Trek or other. Will be interesting to see how they update it |

#2 Don't know, I only saw it once when it first aired, wasn't impressed. I don't know if it showed in Britain. I'd guess they'd just pick up somewhere after the last official BBC episode. |

#1 Transparent ploy by the BBC to get some good press. ;) Actually, is that Fox pilot (not picked up in favor of Sliders for Chrissake) going to be canon? |
