Most Filipinos are Catholic (about 90%) this comes from the Spanish conquest of the islands back in the 1500's - 1800's or so. From the Library of Congress on the Philippines: Religion: In 1989 approximately 82 percent Roman Catholic, approximately 9 percent associated with Iglesia ni Kristo and various Protestant denominations, 5 percent Muslim, remainder Buddhist, Daoist (or Taoist), or other religions. |
