US-led coalition forces in Afghanistan have arrested 40 people, including two suspected mid-level Taliban leaders, in the southern province of Helmand, a US military spokesman said today. Colonel Bryan Hilferty told reporters in Kabul that US special operation forces raided compounds and houses in Mus-Qaleh district in Helmand province last morning. ’’No shots were fired and no one was injured,’’ Hilferty said. ’’Two of them we have identified and believe were mid-level Taliban leaders.’’ He added that grenades, mines, other ammunition and one rifle were found during the raids. |
