Australia helping Indonesians to decrypt JI files
2004-03-30
Australian computer experts are helping Indonesian police open protected files on a laptop belonging to a suspected Islamic bomb-maker. "We have invited experts from Australia to work along with our experts," said national police spokesman Sunarko Danu Ardanto. Mr Ardanto says the Australian computer experts arrived in Indonesia yesterday. They have started opening files in the computer allegedly belonging to Oman Rahman. Police have declared Rahman and eight others as suspects following an accidental explosion during a bomb-making class at a house in Depok on the southern outskirts of Jakarta earlier this month. Investigators are looking into the group's possible links with a larger terrorist network. The explosive chemicals - potassium chlorate and sulphur - which the group was using are similar to those used in the Bali nightclub attack.
