Police arrested 30 supporters of the slain Pakistan Peopleâs Party Parliamentarian (PPPP) leader Munawar Suharwardy in Karachi on Saturday for disturbing the peace in the city, an official said.

The mind boggles... | About 50 supporters of the late Suharwardy protested in front of the provincial legislature, chanting slogans against the government and demanding the arrest of his killers. Police arrested 30 of the opposition members and booked them for disturbing public peace, said police official Abdul Majid Dasti, adding that they could be detained for up to one month.

The protest march was led by PPPP President Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal central leaders Liaquat Baloch and Hafiz Hussain Ahmad and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Tehmina Daultana. The lawmakers chanted slogans against the government for its failure to maintain law and order in Karachi. They were holding placards inscribed with slogans like âArrest the murderers of Shaheed Suharwardyâ, âRestore peace and security in Karachiâ and âNation wants halt to Wana operationâ.
