Ghana foils alleged coup plot |

Accra, Ghana, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Authorities in Ghana have made seven arrests in the investigation of an alleged plot to overthrow President John Kufuor, the BBC reported Sunday. Ghana is directly next door to The Ivory Coast Ghana officials have said the seven past and present military personnel planned acts of "destabilisation and sabotage" prior to December's presidential election. Kufuor was expected to win a second term. There have been several coups in Ghana since the country gained independence in 1957. However, in recent years, the country has been stable, the BBC said. |
