| UN calls global summit for September | |

The United Nations has convened a summit for September 14-16 next year as the world body looks at a sweeping overhaul of the organisation, it was announced on Friday. The UN general assembly, which groups all 191 member states, adopted a resolution calling on every nation to send heads of state and government to the summit, which comes just ahead of the assembly's annual general debate.
