The United States has transferred two leading insurgents to Libya. Islamic sources said the United States facilitated the transfer of two Islamic operatives to Libya over the last few months. The sources said the two were members of Al Jamaa Al Islamiya Combatant Group, regarded as the leading insurgency group in Libya. The two men were captured in China and Thailand in 2003, the sources said. They said the operatives were extradited to Libya in 2004 and interrogated regarding any link to Al Qaida.One of the insurgents was identified as as Sami Mustafa Al Saedi, also known as Abu Monzer Al Saedi. The sources said Al Saedi was regarded as a leading member of the Arab mercenary community in Afghanistan trained and supported by Al Qaida and Taliban.
