Strong earthquake hits waters off PNG |

A strong earthquake struck waters north of Papua New Guinea, the Hong Kong Observatory said. The quake, which was estimated at 6.5 on the Richter Scale, was recorded at 8:28pm Hong Kong time, it said in a statement. Its epicentre was in the sea north of Papua New Guinea, about 590 kilometres east south-east of Jayapura, a town in Indonesia's Papua province. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage. |
