PHNOMPENH - North Korea told the visiting Thai Foreign Minister it was unable to take part in six-party talks on its nuclear crisis scheduled for this week because âtrust and confidenceâ are lacking. âThe North Korean foreign minister told me what he had in mind, what had caused North Korea not to be able to participate in the six-party talks scheduled for Monday,â Thai Foreign Minister Kantathi Suphamongkhon told reporters on Sunday without elaborating.
â...I hope that the talks can resume at least by mid-September or within September at the latest,â he added.
Chinaâs top envoy to the six-party talks, joining China, Russia, Japan, the United States and the two Koreas and aimed at dismantling North Koreaâs nuclear weapons programme, flew to Pyongyang on Saturday. |
