An al-Qaeda terrorist, Mohammed Majoodi, has sneaked into the country with the intention of targeting US centres in major Indian metros, intelligence sources said. It was Majoodi’s suspected presence here that had led the US state department to sound a terror alert for American establishments in India on October 10. While establishments in the Capital like the US embassy, American Centre and United States Educational Foundation in India are high on terrorist hit lists, the alert about Majoodi has also been passed on to Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata and Chennai by intelligence agencies. According to security sources, intelligence and police agencies have launched a high-intensity hunt for the terrorist over the past six days. According to intelligence inputs, Majoodi has been in India for several weeks and has spent time in Hyderabad and Mumbai.
