UNSC condemns Iran's anti-Israel remarks
2005-10-29
The United Nations Security Council on Friday condemned Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's comment that Israel should be "wiped off the map".

"The Security Council condemns the remarks about Israel attributed to Mr Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, president of the Islamic republic of Iran," said a statement read by the president of the council for the month, Romanian ambassador Mihnea Motoc. Earlier, Britain had demanding a strong UNSC condemnation of Ahmadinejad's with the Vatican describing the Iranian president's comments as "grave and unacceptable." Turkey expressed disapproval of the Iranian's call for Israel to be wiped off the map, and said Ankara would make no changes to its flourishing ties with the Jewish state. Spain said Ahmadinejad's rhetoric had no place in civilised society.
That's kinda the problem, isn't it? The once-civilized Medes and Persians no longer are...

#7  Since the change in government, Spain seems to have missed the point, Iran's current government isn't actually a part of civilization..... and one wonders when the coffee will be noticed by the rest of the eurofools.

#4  Well, wasn't there a Persian vizier who had related designs on the Jews? Namely, Haman son of Hammedatha?

#3  the Iranians, like teh Lebanese, were fairly advanced (in western terms) in education, social liberty and freedoms. One was torn apart by civil war (and the cancerous influence of Arafat) and teh other by the hateful Khomeini. The Shah doesn't look so bad, now, does he Tehran?
