BEIRUT - Israeli aircraft scattered propaganda tracts over Beirut, its suburbs and south Lebanon on Wednesday to warn of the dangers the Jewish state said the Shia militant group Hezbollah posed to Lebanese people.
Intruding into Lebanese airspace earlier, Israeli planes flooded the capital and nearby districts with thousands of pamphlets. In the southern port city of Tyre, Lebanese police said three Israeli helicopters ejected large packets of the tracts which floated down on parachutes. âHezbollah brings a strong prejudice to Lebanon. It is an instrument in the hands of its Syrian and Iranian masters. The state of Israel is watching over the protection of its citizens and sovereignty,â the leaflets read.
"Mess with us and you're gonna git it!" | The propaganda assault followed fierce clashes on Monday between Hezbollah and Israeli troops in which four terrorists militants from the Islamic movement were killed and 11 Israeli soldiers were wounded.
The Lebanese military, in a statement on Wednesday, said âIsraeli combat planes at dawn dropped tracts on Beirut, Mount Lebanon and Lebanon, signed âThe State of Israelâ which (seek to) raise spirits against the resistance (Hezbollah). âThis act shows the aggressive intentions on the part of the Israeli enemy which has recently intensified its violations by air, sea and land,â the military said.
Which begs the question: did you get the message? | People living on Beirut seafront and in the southern suburb, a stronghold of Hezbollah, found leaflets in the streets outside their doors. Addressed to âLebanese Citizensâ, the tracts ask: âWho is protecting Lebanon, who lies to you? Who throws your sons into a battle for which they are not prepared? Who wants the return of destruction?â
Oh, enough about Pencil-Neck already! |
