| At UN, Israel literally 'wiped off the map' |

| This map of 'Palestine' was prominently displayed during a public gathering at the United Nations headquarters in New York in the presence of all top three UN officials - Secretary-General Kofi Annan, Security Council president Audrey Denisoy and General Assembly president Jan Eliasson - on 'International Day of Solidarity With the Palestinian People'. Israel, a UN member state for 56 years, has been wiped off the map. The event at the UN followed Iranian President Ahmadinejad's call to "eliminate Israel from the pages of history" to which Mr Annan had reacted with "dismay." He was not, however, 'dismayed' by this map.  |
