The death toll from the suicide attack against an Iraqi army base in the city of Mosul has risen to 40 with 30 more injured, a military source said Monday. It added that the attack, which took place in the "Kisk recruitment center, " was mounted by a "suicide terrorist, who detonated an explosive belt near a crowd of volunteer recruits at the center's gate." The number of dead is likely to rise again, given that several of the injured had sustained grave injuries, the source said.In December 2004, a similar kamikase attack took place in a tent that was used as a mess for US servicemen in Mosul. The attack left 22 dead, including 14 US soldiers and 4 US civilians.
