Syrian foreign ministry summoned representative of the European Union on Saturday to protest against interference in its internal affairs after the EU criticized Syria's crackdown on dissidents, the official SANA news agency reported.The EU urged Damascus on Friday to release all political prisoners including activists who demanded mending ties with Lebanon. "The EU announcement constitutes unacceptable interference in Syrian internal affairs," a foreign ministry statement said. "The (arrests) issue lies in the domain of Syrian sovereignty, which includes protecting the population and applying the country's legal code."
