Egyptian law and order forces continued to search for terrorists who could be involved in recent bomb attacks which targeted tourist areas such as Dahab, Sharm El-Sheikh and al-Joura. "More than 150 kilograms of explosives were found in metal tins and iron containers," the Cairo-based Middle East News Agency said.The explosives were "hidden under desert sand in the Humdha area in Rayssan in the middle of the Sinai desert, the agency said. It added that explosives experts were brought to the site to survey the area and collect the explosives as a prelude to taking them to a safe place.
Earlier, law and order forces had found 50 kilograms of TNT in addition to 20 land mines ready for use as well as other dismantled mines and photographic equipment with two printers and two camera stands. They were all found hidden under the desert sand in the same area as the 150 kilograms. The explosives were to be used by local renegades in that area before some of them were arrested and others escaped, the agency said.
